Bio

I started my business in 2003. I enjoy the opportunity for detailed design work and personal connection with clients that I have with residential and other small projects.

My previous experience covers a broad range of project types in both new construction and remodels. I have managed projects with budgets ranging from five thousand to twenty million dollars.

I have worked on single-family homes, live-work spaces, multi-unit housing projects, and mixed-use developments. I worked with the CoHousing Company where we collaborated with clients to design ecologically-sound housing communities with a balance of private and shared spaces. Design for children - childcare centers, schools, and custom children’s furniture - has been another area of focus. I gained an in-depth knowledge of working with historic structures while working with two firms that specialize in historic preservation. For several years I did non-profit projects including affordable housing, homeless shelters, social service centers, churches, and disabled access consulting. Other projects have included civic buildings, offices, commercial space, restaurants, and hospitals.

I have renovated two of my own Craftsman homes, doing much of the construction work myself, which has given me a hands-on understanding of construction. I also practice and teach a martial art and bodywork. These practices bring a balance to my life that supports my architectural work.

I graduated with a Masters in Architecture from UC Berkeley in 1990 and a BA in Architecture from Wellesley College/Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1983.
